Will The Activision-Blizzard Merge Affect Starcraft Two?

Mike Morhaime says the next game is still StarCraft Two. So it looks like the merger hasn’t affected the game so far.

Q: What are your goals now that you have the most successful online game of all time?
A: There are still a lot of untapped markets around the world. A lot haven’t come online yet like India, some markets in Eastern Europe. We’re very excited about the Warcraft movie with Legendary Pictures. The goal there is to prove that movies based on video games don’t have to be bad. We have a pipeline of additional games that we are working on. The first of them is Starcraft 2 and an upgraded version of our Battle.net gaming service.

Finally! Starcraft 2 Terran Units!

After waiting a long time for updates on Starcraft 2. Terran units were showcased in Swedish Magazine (according to GosuGamers) Superplay.  Here’s how they are looking like:

SC2 Terran Units

“Planetary Fortress: Terran head quarters can be upgraded to Planetary Fortress. It is a head quarter with one hell of a defense weapon on top.”

“Thor: The phattest new guy’s name is Thor and has his name from the god of thunder. One of these babies can take down a base on his own.”

“Sensor Dome: With one of these sensors you can see enemy units on the map even if they move over undiscovered areas.”

“Ghost: Yep. The Ghost is there, again.”

“Say hello to the Terran’s own transformer. The viking can change shape from an airplane to a walking robot. Really nice if you fly to an enemy base and gets attack by an air force.”

“Supply Depot: New in the earthlings base is a building that can pack itself up and be lowered down below the surface so your units may pass over it. It works nice as a first obstacle at your base in an early stage.”

What is StarCraft and StarCraft2?

Nice post about Starcraft here.

In 1998, StarCraft told the story of three races in conflict, and it went a little something like this… The Terrans - human colonists - are torn apart by civil war and find themselves stuck in the middle of a war between the Protoss and the Zerg. The Protoss and the Zerg are enhanced alien races given an evolutionary leg-up by a meddling super-race called the Xel’Naga.

It’s a bit of a review and analysis. Check it out.

Starcraft2 Announcement Boosts Original Starcraft Game Sales

As noted in filefront and itwire australia , sales of the original Starcraft game are going up.

Of course, everyone’s snapping up the Starcraft Battle Chest, since they get the expansions, and since it’s selling for about ten bucks these days. At least it is at EB Games / Gamestop, whose website shows the battle chest at the top of the best seller list. Amazon.com lists the Battle Chest at #19 on their best seller list.

In my area, we’ve been playing starcraft broodwar in the computer shops even before the annoucement came up. Now, more players are reviewing their Terran, Protoss and Zerg multiplaying skills. Everyone is really excited with the new game.
