Dennis Petersen offers a nice narrative on what to expect from starcraft2. It’s a nice summary of thoughts. He mentions:

The clever reader will propably remember that Kerrigan’s zerg army destroyed the terrans in Starcraft - The Brood War, so how come they are back? Well, a few companies survived, but none of the good guys. So expect to be a part of the evil empire of the Terran Dominion.

Which probably means the the next Terrans will be badder and tougher. There are no unit samples yet but from the preview trailer we see that the main Terran hero seems to be a criminal. On the gameplay videos you will see Terrans with jump-jets (similar to Zone Troopers of Command And Conquer:Tiberium Wars). They can hop over hills and obstacles. No name for them yet.

We also see our trusty seige tanks, battlecruisers and even the ghosts. In one of the videos the Ghosts nuke an ongoing war and clears all the fighting units. They are, in turn, killed by zerglings.
